BROADWAY BEARS
ABOUT US
BROADWAY BEARS was conceptualized in mid-2011 when Andy Mangels and Mark Brown were in the play The Secret Garden together. As both had performed in a variety of stage productions and fundraisers, Mangels suggested putting a group of performers together for the express purpose of producing live cabaret events as charitable fundraisers.
Additionally, given that male actors were often forced to shave their facial hair for roles, Mangels wanted to make sure that none of the performers would be forced to do so for this group. Scouting other performers from the stage and karaoke nights, with backgrounds ranging from Broadway to opera, the group came together in brotherhood and a love of music ...
Thus was born BROADWAY BEARS, a live cabaret group of Portland's Furriest Singers!
As a group, the BROADWAY BEARS perform songs from throughout the musical realm, from stage and screen, from male to female, from comedy to pathos, performing solos, duets, trios, and group numbers ... showing that talent comes in all sizes and can include furry faces!
